Itinerary

Day 1: Depart U.S. for Rome
Welcome aboard your overnight flight to Rome. Relax with in-flight meals and entertainment as you cross the Atlantic.

Day 2 – Welcome to Rome!
Land at Leonardo da Vinci, Rome’s main airport where your driver and assistant will wait for you at the airport for a private transfer to your hotel. Check into your hotel and settle in for a four night stay. Later in the day, meet with your Tour Representative and you will have an opportunity to ask questions about your stay and attractions to visit in the coming days. This evening we will enjoy a dinner at the hotel (drinks NOT included). Overnight.


Day 3 -: Rome Sightseeing
After breakfast at the hotel, this morning take an excursion to see the classic monuments of the ANCIENT ROME. Your Roman guide will take you on a pleasant stroll from Piazza Venezia, Rome Historical Centre with "The Vittoriano" the altar dedicated to the King Vittorio Emanuele II in 1911 - The Capitol Square is a work of Michelangelo dating back to the 16th century together with a marvellous stairways called "The Cordonata" (Visit) - The Roman Forums were the political, military and social centre of the whole Roman Empire - Temple of Julius Cesar - Basilica Emilia, the Arch of Titus and the holy road (Visit) - Colosseum, the Rome's greatest amphitheatre built by the Emperor Vespasian in 72 A.C. (Visit) - The Basilica of San Pietro in Vincoli housing The Statue of Moses, Michelangelo's masterpiece (Visit).
The afternoon is free, to choose what you would like to see and do. You will have an opportunity to talk about places to go during your hospitality session on the day of arrival in Rome.

Day 4 -: Rome at Leisure (Optional tours)

Today you have a full day at leisure to wander on your own through the majestic city. Nowhere more than here will you get a sense of the continuity of Italian civilization. In the streets or in the piazzas, in the gardens and churches, or in front of the palaces, the visitor will understand why Rome has always considered itself a capital, eternally renewing herself and finding strength in her rich past.

OPTION 1: f you wish, you may like to take a day tour to Naples and Pompeii: We leave the hotel and join the Autostrada del Sole from where you can admire the Abbey of Montecassino, noted for its famous battle during the Second World War and completely rebuilt after the War.
In Naples take a drive around to see the most important places and get great views of the city (panoramic view of the city). Today you will taste for lunch the wonderful REAL NEAPOLITAN PIZZA with Buffalo Mozzarella and fresh tomatoes Then cross the fertile valley of Mount Vesuvius to Pompeii. Visit the excavations on foot with a local guide on an archaeological journey through the ancient, fascinating city which was completely destroyed by the volcanic eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in 79 A.D., where you can picture the everyday life of the Imperial Age (tickets included).

OPTION 2: You may prefer to visit Assisi. A chance to spend a delightful day out of Rome, to visit Umbria, one of the most picturesque regions of Italy rich in vineyards, olive trees and the famous hill-top villages across the valley. The route is dotted with charming medieval towns such as Orvieto, renowned for its beautiful Cathedral, Spoleto (Giancarlo Menotti’s Festival dei Due Mondi), Trevi, Foligno, Spello and most famous of all Assisi. The mystic town of Saint Francis, still surrounded by the ancient walls, is built on the green slopes of Mount Subasio with its colourful houses of pink stone. Narrow streets, flower-decked balconies, noble palaces, all provide beautiful views for memorable pictures (do not forget your camera). An interesting guided visit to St. Francis Basilica with its early renaissance master-pieces of Giotto and Cimabue and the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli.
Enjoy browsing in the old town, shopping in the little stores and in the artisan shops.

OPTION 3 You may prefer to visit CAPRI: After leaving the hotel, take the Autostrada del Sole (major Italian highway) toward Naples. Upon arrival in Naples, embark and departure for the Island of Capri. Upon arrival at Marina Grande, weather and sea conditions permitting, visit the Blue Grotto*; return to Marina Grande to depart by minibus and funicular for a panoramic tour of the Island: Marina Grande – Anacapri characteristic village situated at the foot of Mt. Solaro – Capri
After lunch on your own, free time to explore and go shopping in the famous "Piazzetta". In the afternoon embark and back to Naples - The arrival is scheduled about 09.30pm, traffic permitting.
*Additional cost for the optional visit of the Blue Grotto to pay locally .
N.B.In the event of rough sea in the Bay of Naples clients will be taken to Pompei instead and the difference in price refunded. During the High season there might be long lines to the Blue Grotto.

Day 5 - : Morning VATICAN TOUR
This morning after breakfast at the hotel, take a morning guided tour of the Eternal City with the Vatican Museum and St.Peter’s Basilica.
Guided visit of Vatican Museums (ADMISSION INCLUDED) where we will admire the Hall of the Greek Cross, the Candelabra Gallery, the Tapestry Gallery, the Maps Gallery, the Raphael Room and above all the Sistine Chapel where you will discuss the history and beauty of the Museum and where you will see Michelangelo’s "Creation" and the famous "Last Judgment".
At the end of the tour, guided visit of St. Peter’s Basilica to see “Pieta” by Michelangelo.

Afternoon is free some last minute shopping or sightseeing.
Tonight we will enjoy a farewell dinner (drinks included) at the HOTEL. Overnight Rome.


Day 6 - Depart Rome
Today your driver will pick you up from your hotel and transfer you to Rome Airport in ample time for you to check in for your return flight to the USA. You will have time to do some duty free shopping before boarding your flight. (BB)
